Led by wide receivers Richard Sincere and Torrance Williams and quarterback Brian Bell, No. 1 Sam Houston State defeated No. 7 Montana State 49-13 Saturday at Bowers Stadium to advance to the NCAA Division I Football Championship semifinals .

Sam Houston (13-0) will face No. 5 Montana next weekend in Huntsville. Date and time of the game will be announced on Sunday morning.

Down 3-0 in the first quarter, the Bearkats roared back for 14 points in the second period and 21 in the third quarter as Sam Houston rolled up 428 yards rushing and 501 total yards.

The Kat defense limited Montana State (10-3) to 77 yards rushing, recovered a fumble, intercepted a pass and blocked a field goal as the Bobcats totaled 349 yards offense.

Sincere rushed 11 times for 160 yards including a long run of 52 yards. He also caught two passes for 43 yards including a 40-yard scoring pass from Bell.

Bell, who completed 5 of 12 passes for 73 yards, opened Sam Houston's scoring with an 11-yard pass to Grant Merritt with 4:50 to play in the first quarter.

After a Jason Cunningham field goal cut the margin to 7-6 early in the second, the Bearkats ran off and hid.

First Bell broke up the middle for a 54-yard touchdown, then hit Sincere for another score.

The Kats scored 21 unanswered points in the third quarter as Brandon Closner returned a kickoff 82-yards for a touchdown after MSU cut the margin to 28-13.

Ryan Wilson scored from the one after Sincere's 52-yard run. Torrance Williams added scores on runs of 56 and 21 yards.

Kenneth Jenkins and Darnell Taylor led the Bearkat defense with 11 tackles. Daxton Swanson picked off his eighth interception of the season, a school record. Preston Sanders blocked the MSU field goal.
