Tom Brown on signing day
Nine top high school seniors have signed letters-of-intent to attend Sam Houston State University and play soccer for head coach Tom Brown.

Signing with the Bearkats are goalkeeper Kylie Hambleton of Katy Seven Lakes High School; forwards Katie Ferrara from Round Rock, Constance Semien from Katy Morton Ranch High School, Shelby McDaniel from League City Clear Springs High School; midfielders Ashley Alonzo from Little Elm and Mariah Titus from Bedford L. D. Bell High School and defenders Emma Brandon from Wimberly, Katie Bunch from The Woodlands, Colby Glover from Tulsa, Oklahoma, Union High School.

"This is a terrific recruiting class," Brown said. " It features players with state and national championships, all-region and all-state accolades, and youth national team pool experience.  We were thin last year in the defense and this recruiting class adds some good experienced players who can help solidify our back.  We also add an outstanding goalkeeper.  Kylie has had a terrific high school career and I am very excited that she will be representing Sam Houston during the next four years.

"I felt that we had a problem holding the ball in the attacking half and, at times, lacked the ability to create goals.  We have added several talented midfielders who can help fulfill that role. We are better today than we were yesterday.  I am very excited about the upcoming season."
