Charles White of Sam Houston State finished 17th in the men's triple jump Friday night at the NCAA Division I Championships hosted by Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

White jumped 51 feet and one quarter inch on his third attempt of the day. He went 49' 11.25" on his first jump and 43' 10" on his second.

The triple jump was the second of two events in which Sam Houston State student-athletes competed at the NCAA Championships.

White set a school record with a mark of 51 feet, 10.5" in the triple jump to earn his trip to Des Moines at the NCAA West Preliminaries in Austin two weeks ago.
