Natchitoches, La. - Sarah Allison went 2-for-4 including her fifth home run of the season to give Sam Houston State a Southland Conference series sweep of Nicholls State with a 6-3 win over the Colonels Saturday afternoon.

Allison also extended the Bearkats' streak of games with at least one home run to five. Sam Houston softball has won its last seven games in a row.

Kim Damian, Tori Benavidez, Shelbi Tucker, HillaryAdams and Calli Wood also each totaled two hits as Sam Houston (8-13, 2-0) ran up 14 hits on Colonel pitching.

Adams had a two-run single that completed a five-run third inning for the Bearkats. After Nicholls cut the margin to 5-3 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third and another run in the fourth, Tucker added a sixth run in the top of the seventh inning with a sacrifice fly.

Shelby Lancaster (3-4) was the winning pitcher for the Bearkats, spreading seven hits over five innings. She faced 24 Colonel batters. Tomi Garrison pitched the final two innings to pick up her third save of the season.

Sam Houston returns to Southland Conference action next Friday and Saturday when the Kats travel to Central Arkansas. The next home game for SHSU softball is a Southland doubleheader on Tuesday, March 27 with Stephen F. Austin State.
