Sarah Allison earns Southland honor

Sam Houston State sophomore shortstop Sarah Allison has been named the Southland Conference Hitter of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Allison helped extend Sam Houston State's current winning streak to seven games after leading the Bearkats to a 5-0 record on the week, including a conference sweep of Nicholls State.

The College Station/A&M Consolidated H.S. product hit four home runs in five games while recording six RBIs on the week.

Allison notched a .400 batting average (6-for-15) for the week while slugging 1.267 percent in five games.

The sophomore has totaled five multiple hit games this season and leads the team in multiple RBI games with five.

Sam Houston State returns to action Friday and Saturday with a Southland Conference series at Central Arkansas. The next home game for the Kats is Tuesday, March 27, when Sam Houston plays host to Stephen F. Austin in a 4 p.m. doubleheader.
