Olivia Battye battled back to earn the decisive victory of the match at number six singles Sunday as Sam Houston upped its 2012 women's tennis dual match record to 4-2 at the McAdams Tennis Center.

Sam Houston won a thriller with Tyler, taking four of the six singles matches after dropping the doubles point for a 4-3 team win. The Apaches are ranked number one in the NJCAA national poll and are two-time national champions.

Battye defeated Mary Blacketo at number six 6-4 0-6 6-4. Natalie Petaia, Tatyana Postnikova and Nadia Duyanskaya won at three, four and five singles, respectively.

Petaia defeated Nelo Phiri 6-3, 6-1; Postnikova downed Alejandra Enderica 6-2, 6-2 and Dubyanskaya won over Adrian Saldana 6-3, 6-2.

Dubyanskaya and Postnikova also paired for a doubles victory at number two.

Sam Houston begins Southland Conference dual match action next weekend with a road trip to Nicholls State and Southeastern Louisiana.
