RUSTON, La. – The Sam Houston State Bearkats dominated singles play once again and picked up their second straight victory with a 4-1 win on Monday afternoon over Louisiana Tech at the Louisiana Tech Tennis Complex.
The Kats (5-3) won in straight sets in all four of its singles matches with the other two being unfinished, erasing an early 1-0 lead after the Lady Techsters (3-6) took the doubles point.
Isidora Zivkovic was the first to reach the finish line, doing so on the No. 2 court with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Ana Jover to square the match at 1-1. Karla De La Luz Montalvo then surged the Bearkats in front when she secured the No. 3 point with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Ilana Tetruashvili.
The win wraps up a winning non-conference slate for the Bearkats, not being shut out in a single match of pre-conference play.
The Bearkats will now turn their attention to Southland Conference play and will open up with a pair of home matches this weekend beginning with Nicholls on Friday and followed by a match with New Orleans on Sunday in Huntsville.
