Nacogdoches - For the first time in six matches, Sam Houston had All-Southland Conference Carli Kolbe back in the lineup and the senior outside hitter responded with 15 kills and 21 digs to lead the Bearkats to a five set victory over Stephen F. Austin Friday night.

The Bearkats rallied after losing the first set for a hard-fought 22-25 25-21 25-22 23-25 15-10 victory over the Lumberjacks, Sam Houston's four win over SFA in their last five meetings.

Kaylee Hawkins added 11 kills and Kim Black posted nine kills and seven blocks as Sam Houston upped its record to 7-5 for the season. Stephen F. Austin dropped to 6-6.

The match was part of the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack Invitational tournament, but counts towards Southland Conference league standings as well, giving Sam Houston a 1-0 start in conference play.

Melissa Miksch led SFA with 15 kills. Kym Loving totaled 43 assists running the floor as the Bearkats' setter.

Sam Houston will face Rice at 10 a.m. and North Dakota at 5 p.m. in two more matches at the tournament Saturday. The two contests will wrap up the non-conference portion of the Bearkats' 2011 schedule.
