Volleyball defeats Nicholls

Thibodaux, La. - Led by Carli Kolbe who knocked down 24 kills, the Sam Houston volleyball team defeated Nicholls in four sets for the Bearkats' second consecutive victory.

Haley Neisler and Kim Black each added 10 kills as the Bearkats totaled 64 kills as a team in a 25-21 25-18 22-25 25-18 Southland Conference win.

Kendall Cleveland produced nine kills and Kolbe and Kaylee Hawkins led the Bearkat defense with 14 digs apiece. Senior setter Kym Loving assisted on 58 of the Kats' 64 kills.

The victory upped Sam Houston to 11-9 for the season and 5-2 in Southland Conference action. Nicholls dropped to 15-7 for the year and 2-4 in league play.

Sarah Terry led the Colonels with 13 kills.The first set saw three lead changes, but Sam Houston led wire to wire in the second set. After dropping the third set by three points, the Kats roared back to take the fourth frame after  three early ties.
