Eddie Orozco spread seven hits over eight innings, surrendering only one run and striking out five as UC Riverside evened its non-conference baseball series with Sam Houston State Saturday afternoon with a 10-1 victory over Sam Houston State.  

Shortstop Eddie Young went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Highlanders (4-6).  

Sam Houston State (5-5) turned Corey Toups triple in the eighth inning into the Bearkats' only run. Toups scored on a ground out by left fielder Luke Plucheck.  

Justin Jackson (2-1) took the loss for Sam Houston State.  

The Bearkats and the Highlanders will decide the series tomorrow with the third and final game at 1 p.m.
