After winning the resumption of game 1 earlier in the day, Sam Houston State dropped game 2, 7-4 to Texas Arlington to even the three game series.

The Bearkats (32-14, 20-6 SLC) did all of their damage in the third inning, posting four runs in the third inning. Jake Arrington brought home a pair to cut a 3-0 lead to one. Corey Toups followed with a two-run single to put the Kats up 4-3.

But the Mavericks (28-20, 15-11 SLC) took advantage of three Bearkat errors.

Justin Jackson was chased from the game after four innings. Brandon Bergen (2-2) came on in relief and was tagged for the loss after allowing two runs to score. Dickson finished out the game, also allowing a run home.

In the conclusion of Friday night’s game, Michael Burchett came on to relive Caleb Smith who worked all seven innings on Friday night. Burchett allowed a couple of hits, but managed to pick up his 8th save of the year as the Kats won 2-0.

After a loss today by Southeastern Louisiana to SFA, the Bearkats remain four games up in the Southland Conference with seven games left to play.

The Bearkats will give the ball to Michael Oros (6-1) on Sunday in the pivotal deciding third game of the series. It will be the first weekend start of the year for Oros.
