HUNTSVILLE Tyler Knight singled with two out and runners on second and third to give Sam Houston State an 11-inning 5-4 victory over Creighton Sunday afternoon as the Bearkats completed a four-game weekend sweep of the Bluejays at Don Sanders Stadium.

 

Catcher Mark Wyatt went 3-for-4 at the plate including a solo home run in the first inning to account for each of Sam Houston’s first three runs.

 

Nick Becker forced extra innings with a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning. Darin Ruf gave the Bluejays a brief 4-3 lead in the top of the 11th with a sacrifice fly to score Robbie Knight who had led off the inning with a double.

 

Seth Hammock started the bottom of the 11th with a single. He advanced to second on a single by Nick Zaleski and the pair moved up a base on an error.

 

Matt Shelton (1-0) was the winning pitcher in relief, throwing two and a third innings. T. J. Roemmich (0-1) was the loser.

 

Sam Houston State returns to action Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. against Prairie View A&M.
