Sam Houston had a three point lead in the final minute of regulation before Oral Roberts tied it with four seconds left and eventually won it 65-61 in overtime.

Damen Bell Holter hit a layup with 58 seconds left in regulation to get within one point at 55-54. Sam Houston didn't make another shot in the second half.

Oral Roberts took a timeout with eight seconds left to run an inbound play for the win. Shawn Glover was fouled on a layup attempt and made one-of-two to tie the score at 55.

"We had a three-point lead really late and we didn't manage the clock well enough," Jason Hooten said. "I thought we kind of shot ourselves in the foot."

Marquel McKinney led the Kats with 11 points and Darius Gatson added 10. All 11 Bearkats that played got on the board.

Oral Roberts had four players in double figures. Shawn Glover and Warren Niles each had 17, Korey Billbury had 16 and Damen Bell-Holter chipped in 13.

Will Bond hit a three pointer at the first-half buzzer to give the Bearkats a 26-23 lead at the break. Oral Roberts only hit five field goals in the first half but shot 12-of-13 from the free-throw line. Kats made 10 baskets but only shot two-of-three from the line.

The Kats finished the game shooting just 9-of-19 from the free-throw line while Oral Roberts was 26-of-31.

Sam Houston hits the road this week and will play Southeastern Louisiana Thursday night and Nicholls State Saturday afternoon.
