Sean Goodwin, a 6-7 230-pound power forward from Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kansas, has signed with Sam Houston to play men’s basketball for head coach Jason Hooten.

Goodwin led coach Mike Bargen’s Grizzlies to a 22-10 record in 2013-14, averaging 10.4 points and 4.5 rebounds. He shot 60.8 percent from the field.

“Sean is a perfect fit for our program,” Hooten said. “He is a talented athlete and good student. He is big and strong and will bring toughness and tenacity we need with seniors Terrance Motley and James Thomas gone. Sean is the true definition of a power forward.”

Goodwin earned All-Kansas Junior College Conference honors. He played both football and basketball at Hutchinson, Kansas.

Goodwin is the fourth signing for men’s basketball this year. Albert Almanza, a 6-5 forward from Austin Saint Stephens High School, and Josh Delaney, 6-0 guard from Killeen Harker Hieghts, signed with the Bearkats during the November early signing period.

Jamal Williams, a 6-4 guard from Episcopal High School in Houston, signed with Sam Houston this spring.
