Darius Gatson, Sam Houston senior guard from Houston / Klein Forest, is one of five players who were voted as members of the 2013 Southland Conference All-Tournament team.

Gatson  averaged 13.7 points per game, going 10-for-20 for .500 shooting from three point range last weekend as he led the No. 6 seeded Bearkats into the semifinals.

Sam Houston defeated No. 7 seed Central Arkansas 69-63 in the first round and upset No. 3 seed Oral Roberts 58-55 in the quarterfinals before falling to eventual tournament champion Northwestern State 55-52 in the semi-finals.

Gatson hit three-pointer to give the Bearkats a 51-49 lead over No. 2 seed Northwestern State with 2:33 to play. The Demons had to hit five clutch free throws in the final minute to hold off the Bearkats.

"Darius really stepped up as a leader for us this year," Sam Houston head coach Jason Hooten said. "As our only senior, he was a big part of our success in the tournament."

Gatson scored 19 points in the win over UCA and 14 in the loss to the Demons.

Shamir Davis and DeQuan Hicks of Northwestern State and Taylor Smith and Desmond Haymon of Stephen F. Austin were the other four players selected to the all-tournament squad.
