Former Sam Houston State basketball star Ashton Mitchell will continue his professional career with BK Kolin of the Czech Republic National Basketball League after signing this month.
In his first game for the club he scored 7 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, dished out 9 assists and had five steals. However his new team lost to USK Praha, 90-93.
Mitchell was drafted by the Rio Grande Valley Vipers of the NBA Developmental League. In 11 games he averaged 5.5 points per game, 2.1 rebounds and 4.5 assists.
The former Sam Houston State standout is in his fourth season in pro basketball.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as his team made it to the Latvian League Semifinals in 2011. Mitchell was also voted Eurobasket.com Latvian League All-Defensive Team in 2011.
His 2010 Bearkats were the Southland regular season and tournament champions and played Baylor in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in New Orleans, La.
