Britni Martin received honors as the "Most Valuable Player" for the 2011-12 Sam Houston State women's basketball team.

The junior from Conroe earned first team All-Southland Conference and Academic All-Southland selection for the second year in a row,

Martin was the leading scorer for Sam Houston's Western Division Championship team.

She led the league in three-point baskets and stood third in scoring and three point and free throw percentage. She scored in double figures in 24 games and now ranks No. 5 in all-time scoring at Sam Houston.

The "Most Valuable Player" awards for the 2011-12 sports season were announced at the annual Sam Houston State University spring athletic banquet at the Lowman Student Center Ballroom on April 23.
