Morgan Davis has been named as "Most Valuable Student-Athlete" for the Sam Houston State University women's indoor track and field team.

The senior from Waller became the first Bearkat in the 25-year history of Sam Houston women's track and field to win the Southland Conference indoor pentathlon championship.

Posting a personal best in each of the five pentathlon events,

Davis totaled 3,403 points to win the title. She is the recipient of the 2012 Southland Women's Indoor Track "Student-Athlete of the Year" award.

The "Most Valuable Player" awards for the 2011-12 sports season were announced at the annual Sam Houston State University spring athletic banquet at the Lowman Student Center Ballroom on April 23.
