Rebecca Pittser, a transfer from McKendree University in Lebanon, Ill., has become the newest member of the nationally-ranked Sam Houston State women's bowling team.

Pittser, from Huntersville, NC, will have three years of eligibility as an SHSU Bearkat remaining after spending her freshman year as a McKendree Bearcat.

"Becca is a great diamond in the rough," SHSU head coach Brade Hagen said. "She will just add to the talented roster already in place for this season. I see a lot of passion and enthusiasm this young lady has which are great assets to have at this level.Becca will definitely have an impact on this team's future success on and off the lanes."

Pittser brings a strong academic back ground with her pre-med academic interest as well as her collegiate and national experience where she has six North Carolina State All Star Team appearances. She also boasts three Tough Shot Women's Scratch titles with the most recent one being last weekend and an impressive 18th place finish overall at the 2011 USBC Youth Open Championships to her credit.

In the program's two year history, Sam Houston State has posted final national rankings of No. 7 and No. 9. The Bearkats are the first inaugural NCAA Division I women's bowling program to earn an NCAA Elite Eight berth.
