The Sam Houston men placed eighth in the 2011 Southland Conference men's cross country team standings.

The meet was hosted by Stephen F. Austin at Piney Woods Country Club in Nacogdoches.

Lamar won the team championship with 29 points. Five Cardinal runners placed in the top 10. UTSA was team runner-up with 63 points, followed by A&M-Corpus Christi 91, Stephen F. Austin 100, McNeese Staet 134, Texas State 152, UT-Arlington 204, Sam Houston 221, Central Arkansas 244, Northwestern State 295, Southeastern Louisiana 303 and Nicholls State 337.

Patrick Kimeli of A&M-Corpus Christi won the men's 8,000 meter event with a time of 24:50.

Karl Schreiber was the Bearkats' top finisher with a 26:59 clocking for a 39th place performance.

Other Bearkat competitors were Clint Anders 42nd (27:11), Patrick Krol 43rd (27:12), Logan Terry 51st (27:32), Freddy Arellano 49th (27:37) and Patrick Pitts 67th (29:27).
