The fourth-ranked Kats posted a 4-1 record on the opening day and have a 124 pin lead over FDU.
“Today was pretty brutal early in the day pair to pair but we were able to take advantage of the late transition in the day,” said head coach Brad Hagen. “The late transition was great for momentum for tomorrow but we have to trust our ball reaction more in the fresh and early in the day.”
Freshman Jessica Schram came off the bench and caught fire late in the day striking 14 of her last 20 shots and filling 90 percent of all her shots.
Of the Kats four wins on the day, three came against teams nationally ranked in the top 15.
Competition continues Saturday for the Kats with five more qualifying matches before Sunday’s bracket elimination round. The Bearkats are seeking their fifth tournament win of the season.
