The Sam Houston bowling team will enter the final day of the Hawk Flight Invitational with a chance to claim their fifth title of the season.

The fourth-ranked Bearkats went 5-0 on Saturday and are 9-1 for the tournament.

“Today was a lot more consistent of a day but we earned every pin and every win,” said head coach Brad Hagen. “We managed to battle through some adverse lanes and filling frames was the key. We need to continue to do our jobs in the fresh and fill frames.”

The top-seeded Bearkats will take on Delaware State on Sunday morning. A win will put them in the finals and guarantee a top-2 finish.

Stephanie Zavala led the way for the Bearkats with a 207 average over five games bowled on Saturday. She had a high of 230 with three rounds above 200 to place her second in the individual standings.

Janine Kuwahara finished the day 7th overall with a 202 average and a 244 high game. Madysen Keller is just outside the top 10 with a 199 average and sits 11th overall.
