The Sam Houston bowling team finished second in the Hawk Flight Invitational on Sunday, marking their sixth tournament this year to finish in the top 3.

The fourth-ranked Kats entered the day as the top-seed and won the opening match of the day against the No. 2 seed Delaware State 4-2, taking the final two games to advance to the finals

In the finals against FDU, the two squads split the first four games, before FDU won games 5 and 6 to claim the title. THe Bearkats finish 11-2 for the tournament.

“Despite the loss in the finals, we did exactly what we needed to do this weekend,” said head coach Brad Hagen. “We achieved our main goal by recording double-digit wins this weekend.”

The Bearkats will finish out the regular season March 17-19 at the Music City Classic in Smyrna, Tenn.
