In the final event of the fall semester, the Sam Houston bowling team is off to a good start at the Hawk Classic hosted by Maryland-Eastern Shore.
The Kats finished the day 3-2, but currently stand in second place in total pinfall.
“We come out and made some mistakes early, but I thought we did a good job bouncing back,” said head coach Brad Hagen. “We let a few things go at the end, but overall it was a good day for us.’
The Bearkats opened the day with a loss to the host school, with their low score of the day of 919. Sam Houston bounced back with wins against Coppin State, Howard and Delaware State, twice posting scores over 1,000. They closed out the day with a loss to North Carolina A&T.
The finished the day with a team average of 194.9 and trail first place Sacred Heart by 136 pins.
“Saturday’s a great day for us to make moves and build the momentum we need to take care of Sunday’s match play,” Hagen said.
