Following a 4-1 day at the UMES Hawk Classic, the Sam Houston State bowling team will enter the final day with a chance to win to finish out the semester.
Lynne Fishler led a big day for the Kats, as they improve to 7-3 in the 16-team tournament and will enter Sunday’s bracket play as the No. 3 seed.
“We felt like we’d have a chance to have a good day today,” said head coach Brad Hagen. “Lynne was our most consistent bowler today and helped get us to where we need to be and that’s in the top 4 with a chance to win the title.”
Fishler is ninth overall with a 207.2 average and a high game of 228. Amber MacLeod is 16th with a 199.2 average. Madysen Keller had the high game of the day with a 289 and didn’t compete in the final match of the day. Her four-game average is 204.
“We were really balanced today, and didn’t rely on any one person to carry us,” Hagen said. “It’s experiences like these that will pay dividends in the second half of the season.”
The Kats will open the day tomorrow taking on the hosts Maryland Eastern Shore. With a win they will take on either Vanderbilt or Sacred Heart for a chance to advance to the finals.
