The NCAA Tournament run for the Sam Houston State bowlers came to an end on Saturday morning, as the Bearkats fell to Vanderbilt in the semifinals.

A day after knocking off the Commodores the two teams squared off for the third time this weekend, and 13th time this season, this time with a trip to the national championship on the line.

Both teams came out slow in the traditional game, and strikes came at a premium. As has been the case all tournament with Sam Houston and Vandy, the game was close to the very end. The match came down to the final frame with Vanderbilt pulling off an 871-862 victory.

In the five-game baker, Vanderbilt got off to a big lead in the opening game and never looked back, winning 1,032-853.

Lynne Fishler was named to the all-tournament team, the first all-tournament selection for the Bearkatrs since the 2014 national championship.

The run to the semifinals is the fourth trip to the final four in the last five years for the Kats.
