Looking to add depth to a squad that advanced to the NCAA Bowling semifinals a year ago, Brad Hagen has added Katelyn Dickerson who will join Bearkat squad from Prairie View A&M.
“Katelyn will add competitive experienced depth to our roster which is very young . Her natural athleticism and potential is endless. Katelyn will come in and immediately contribute on and off the lanes from academics to athletics.” Hagen said. “Katelyn is very competitive and time isn't of the essence but I feel confident she'll take full advantage of this opportunity which makes her a very ideal fit with this team moving forward.”
Dickerson joins the Bearkats as after being recognized as the SWAC Freshman of the year in 2017. Her freshman year she was also named a SWAC first team All-Conference selection. While bowling for the Panthers she recorded four top 25 tournament finishes. Dickerson was also the first ever female to throw a 300 game in NCAA team competition at PVA&M which stands as a school record.
Her most recent accomplishment includes a top-100 finish at the 2017 Junior Gold Championships presented by Ebonite International where she finished 93rd in the U-20 Division out of a field of nearly 900 bowlers. The Junior Gold Championships is an annual national tournament for the top male and female youth bowlers in the United States. The tournament awards scholarships and the youth bowlers competing in the U20 and U15 divisions also have the opportunity to earn a spot on Junior Team USA.
A 2017 NTCA Academic All-American, Dickerson will transfer in with a 3.2 GPA and will focus her academic career moving in the business program. This past season at Prairie View, she was a recipient of the 2018 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award.
