Beginning on Friday morning, three Sam Houston bowlers will compete in a Professional Women’s Bowling Association event in Houston.
The Luci, as it’s called, is a PWBA and PBA doubles national championship event with $30,000 in prize money being awarded to the winners.
Recent graduate Madysen Keller will be joined at Copperfield Bowl in Houston by 2018 graduate Stephanie Zavala and 2016 graduate Anna Groce.
The 20th Annual Striking Against Breast Cancer Mixed Doubles Tournament will get started on Friday morning at 8 a.m. Keller and Zavala will bowl in the A group with Keller on lane 24 and Zavala on lane 27. Groce will bowl in the B Group on Friday afternoon beginning at 2 p.m on lane 15.
There will be another preliminary round on Saturday and the top bowlers from each group will advance to Sunday’s semifinal and final rounds.
The event will also serve as a fund raiser for the Striking Against Breast Cancer organization. Fans can support a bowler and pledge a penny per pin. For more information about the fund raiser visit the donation page.
