The Sam Houston bowlers took third place at the SFA Ladyjack Hammer Classic on Sunday with a win against SFA.


The Kats finished the tournament with a 7-5 record and wins against five teams currently ranked in the top 15 in the country. 


The Kats entered the day as the No. 1 seed in the double elimination bracket play. They dropped their opening match against No. 2 McKendree in five games and then lost to No. 6 Nebraska in six.


Against SFA in the third place match, the two teams split the opening two games, before the Bearkats rolled off wins in the next three games to take match. 


The Kats placed two bowlers on the all-tournament team, Elise Chambers and Katelyn Dickerson. Chambers was second overall with a 230 average and Dickerson was third overall with a 226 average.
