COLLEGE STATION - The Sam Houston State men’s and women’s cross country teams participated in the Arturo Barrios Invitational this weekend hosted by Texas A&M.

Junior Andrew Bosquez was the top finisher on both sides with a time of 24:29.4 which was good enough to place 31st. Freshman Austin Zirkel also had a strong showing with a mark of 25:08 to place 66th.

Junior Leo Michel was 207th with a time of 27:42.6 and freshman Brendan Gilbert was 211th with a time of 27:54.7

Sophomore Rebeca Gonzalez led the Bearkats on the women’s side with a 144th-place finish in the 6K with a time of 23:06.5. Freshman Monique Spruill finished 207th with a time of 24:18.9, while freshman Haley Garza placed 227th with a time of 25:24.5 and freshman Lauren Reyna was close behind in 234th with a time of 26:20.8.
