For our From the Vault feature, we are going to have 10 days of features heading into next week’s Battle of the Piney Woods game as we take a look at 10 key moments in the history of the rivalry, which the Kats currently hold a seven game win streak over the Lumberjacks.

First up is the 2011 contest. This is the game the streak started. The second game at NRG Stadium for the Battle of the Piney Woods marked the first win for the Bearkats in three years.

While the Kats would go on that season to the FCS National Championship game in Frisco, the expectations were still relatively low heading in the BOTPW. SFA had won two straight in the rivalry while also dominating the league.

The Kats entered the game undefeated and ranked No. 11 in the country. The SFA was a big game to kick-start a second half run.

The Lumberjacks kept the game close in the first half, with the Bearkats taking a 10-3 lead into the locker room at the half. But a big 55-yard TD pass from sophomore QB Brian Bell to Keith Blanton sparked a second half onslaught. The Kats walked out of NRG Stadium 45-10 winners

There were a few key highlights from that game and one flip into the end zone we’ll feature later in the series.

But we’ll start our From the Vault: Battle of the Piney Woods countdown with the full highlights from the 2011 game.

This year's game will kickoff at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6. To purchase tickets visit www.gobearkats.com/pineywoods
