Scott Dietrich joins Sam Houston State Athletics as Assistant AD for Ticket Operations. Dietrich, a native of New Orleans, recently served as Director of Ticket Operations for the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi athletics department. Dietrich brings more than seven years of experience in ticket management and sales experience in the athletics and entertainment industry.
Prior to Texas A&M Corpus Christi, Dietrich served as Assistant Box Office Manager at Verizon Arena in North Little Rock, AR after working at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) Department of Athletics as the Director of Ticketing. Before joining UALR, Dietrich worked as the Box Office Assistant at the Cajundome Arena and Convention Center in Lafayette, La. While at the Cajundome, Dietrich assisted in ticket management and distribution for numerous teams and events, including athletic events for University of Louisiana and the 2012 New Orleans Bowl.
“I’m thrilled to be working at Sam Houston,” Dietrich said. “The Bearkats have such a great history of success and I’m looking forward to helping this department continue to grow. When looking at this university from a ticket sales opportunity, Huntsville is in a great location. It really is centrally located, a little over an hour from Houston and less than three hours to Dallas. I think we have the opportunity to reach a huge group of fans and bring them on campus to see the excitement the Bearkats bring to the field and court in person.”
Dietrich gained experience as an Account Executive for College Ticketing, LLC, where he serviced and maintained existing season ticket holders and corporate accounts. He played a pivotal role in aiding the Louisiana Athletic Department procure and process 19,000 ticket orders for the 2011 New Orleans Bowl.
“We are excited to bring in someone of Scott’s experience to lead our ticketing operations,” said Director of Athletics Bobby Williams. “Not only does Scott have a history working in college athletics and a familiarity with the Southland Conference, but he also has experience in ticket sales for a venue that hosted major events on a regular basis. We think he will be a great asset to this department as we continue to move forward.”
Dietrich also spent time with the New Orleans Zephyrs Baseball Club as a Corporate Sales Executive. While in New Orleans, Dietrich cultivated corporate partnerships while servicing and maintaining new and existing corporate accounts. He served as a ticket sales intern for the Kansas City Chiefs during the 2008 season, where he supported the sponsorship department with arranging and executing clinics, and organized and updated the team’s prospect database.
While earning his master’s degree at the University of Southern Mississippi, Dietrich worked as a marketing and sales graduate assistant in the USM athletic department.
Dietrich graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Our Lady of Holy Cross College in August 2006, and his master’s degree in sport management from Southern Miss in December 2008. Dietrich and his wife Jamie are excited join the Bearkat family.
