Phillips and Alberto each shot a 36-hole score of 144 on Monday at the par-72 Amelia National Golf Club in Fernandina Beach, Florida. The Bearkats shot consecutive rounds of 299 and are tied with Georgia State. They are 10 shots back of North Florida which holds the lead.
Alberto and Phillips each took different paths to their even par score after two rounds. Alberto opened with a 73, battling back from a 3-over with birdies on Nos. 13 and 16 to get to 73. She started the second round strong with a 2-under front 9 and closed with a 71.
Phillips posted back-to-back 72s and carded seven birdies, which is second-most in the tournament. She closed the day with a birdie on 18 to get back to even par for the tournament.
