Battling cold and rainy conditions on the final day of the Amelia Island Collegiate, the Bearkats slipped to a fifth-place finish at the 16-team event.
The Kats, which had shot 299 in each of the first two rounds, slipped to a 321 on Tuesday, dropping from third, where they entered the day. Conditions worsened throughout the day, and the Kats only recorded three birdies, while posted double-bogey or worse on six holes.
Kenlie Barrett shot the best round of the day to the Kats with a 78, moving her to a tie for 39th at 18-over for the tournament. Hanna Alberto and Jenna Phillips, who entered the day tied for second, each shot rounds of 80 to fall into a tie for 10th for the tournament.
Only one golfer in the 86-player field was even par or better for the day. The average score on the course on Tuesday was 80.18, nearly three shots worse than on Monday.
Phillips led the tournament on par-3 scoring with a 1-under for the three rounds. Alberto was tops on the par 4’s with a 1-over score.
