Following a record-breaking season on the links, the Sam Houston State women's golf team was recognized with three golfers selected to the all-conference squad including Gianti Mahardhika who was named Newcomer of the Year.

Freshman Hanna Alberto was a first team selection while Mahardhika and Heather Shake were named to the five-member second team squad.

Mahardhika won a pair of tournaments this year in he first season with the Bearkats after transferring in from McLennan Community College. She make her mark early in the season, shooting a school-record 66 at the SHSU Invitational at Raven Nest. She won here second tournament of the year in March at the Husky Invitational in Houston.

At the Southland Conference Championships last week, Mahardhika finished in a tie for eighth place. It is the fourth time a Bearkat has been named Southland Newcomer of the Year.

Alberto becomes the sixth women's golfer to be named to the Southland Conference first team. Last week she was the runner up at the Southland championships after shooting a 2-under 69 in the final round.

Alberto led the Bearkats this season in scoring with a season average of 74.59. Six times she finished in the top 10 and saved her best round for he last with the 69 at the conference championship.

Shake earns all-conference for the second straight year. She posted a low round of 70 at the Islander classic on her way to an individual title. She followed that up with a win at the UTRGV Invitational, claiming back-to-back titles.
