MONTGOMERY – The second day of play at the Southland Conference women’s golf championship is in the books, and the Bearkats remain in third place.

The Kats entered the day eight shots back of leaders Houston Baptist, and failed to make up an ground. A day after shooting a 305, the Kats shot a 311 and are now 19 shots back of HBU.

The Bearkats do have a pair of golfers in the top 10, with Jenna Phillips leading the way in third at 7-over par. Her 73 on Tuesday was the second-best score of the day and moved her up 10 spots on the leaderboard.

Hanna Alberto is seventh overall, two shots back of Phillips at 9-over.

The final round will get started at 9 a.m. Wednesday morning.
