FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Sam Houston State women’s golf team finished ninth at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic at Ptarmigan Country Club following a disappointing final round Tuesday.
The Bearkats had a tough going at the par-72, 6,466-yard course, posting a 27-over 315 to close the event with a three-round total of 914. Sam Houston State was tied for second heading into Tuesday’s final round after shooting 295 and 304 Monday.
New Mexico State won the tournament at 26-over 890, five strokes ahead of host Colorado State (895). San Francisco was third (897) and Wyoming and California Baptist tied for fourth (903) to round out the top five.
Bearkat freshman Anna Takahashi once again shot a 4-over 76 in the final round with two birdies to finish tied for 18th place to lead Sam Houston State. She shot 76 in the first round and 74 in the second for a two-day total of 10-over 226.
Freshman Viera Permata Rosada tied for 29th with a final round 81 to finish at 12-over 228. Senior Hanna Alberto (233) tied for 37th and sophomore Kenlie Barrett was one stroke back to finish in a tie for 39th.
Sam Houston State will host the Bearkat Women’s Invitational Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 at High Meadow Ranch Golf Club in Magnolia.
