HUNTSVILLE – Sophomore Breanne Chausse earned an honor away from the court this week, recently being named to the CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-District second team.
She is one of 18 players to be named to the District 7 squad, which is compiled of Division I players from the states of Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas.
She is also one of five players from the Southland Conference to make the team, with four landing on the second team. The academic all-district team recognizes honorees in four divisions – NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III and NAIA.
First team academic all-district honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot, which will be announced December 9-12. With landing on the all-district team, Chausse will also earn an automatic berth onto the Southland Conference all-academic team.
Chausse, a finance major from Coppell, sported a 4.000 GPA at the time of nomination and is one of the top offensive threats for the Bearkat Volleyball team. She ranks second on the team and in the top 10 in the Southland in kills per set after earning honorable mention all-SLC honors a year ago as a true freshman.
She and the rest of the Bearkats currently sit in a tie for second place in the Southland Conference with an 11-4 mark in the league and will close out the regular season on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Southeastern Louisiana.
The Southland Conference Volleyball Tournament is then set to begin on Friday, November 19 at the Farris Center in Conway, Ark.
