TAMPA, Fla. – The Sam Houston State Bearkats will be well represented on Saturday as quarterback Jeremiah Briscoe and defensive lineman P.J. Hall will do their best to impress NFL scouts at the 93rd East-West Shrine Game.
The game, which involves seniors from across the country trying to showcase their skills, is set for a 2:07 p.m. CT kickoff from Tampa’s Tropicana Field and will be broadcast live on NFL Network.
Both Briscoe and Hall will play for the West Team who is coached by Bobby Johnson of the Oakland Raiders. Briscoe will be one of three quarterbacks on the West roster along with Colorado State’s Nick Stevens and Texas Tech’s Nic Shimonek. Opposing quarterbacks will include Memphis’ Riley Ferguson and Ohio State’s J.T. Barrett.
Meanwhile, Hall will be joined on the defensive line by teammates from schools such as Nebraska, Wisconsin, California Texas and Missouri among others. He will be going up against an offensive line group for the East that includes nine players from Power 5 leagues.
Briscoe and Hall each finished up stellar careers this season with the Bearkats with each earning multiple all-America honors. For Briscoe, his career closed with him becoming just the second player in FCS history to win the Walter Payton Award as the nation’s top offensive player, while Hall was just the second Bearkat in school history to earn first team all-SLC honors four times.
