HUNTSVILLE - The Sam Houston State women’s soccer team returns to Pritchett Field for a pair of matches this weekend before hitting the road for a stretch.

The Bearkats (0-3-0) will face Arkansas-Pine Bluff Friday at 6:30 p.m. The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns come to Huntsville Sunday for a 1 p.m. matchup.

Sam Houston State opened the season with three losses against challenging opponents such as Houston, Gonzaga and TCU.

The loss to the Bulldogs was exceptionally tough. Gonzaga scored a golden goal with one second left in overtime to steal a 2-1 victory.

Junior Sammi Mayock scored the Bearkats only goal of the season to put Sam Houston State on top 1-0 in the 17th minute. Mayock slipped the ball past Gonzaga goalie Isabel Jones from the top of the box off of an assist by freshman Kenzie Arrington.
