The Sam Houston State soccer team has been selected as a Team Academic Award winner by the United Soccer Coaches in recognition of the Bearkats’ exemplary performance in the classroom during the 2018-19 academic year, the organization recently announced.

A total of 999 college teams (347 men, 652 women) earned the Team Academic Award, including 259 schools who had both their men’s and women’s programs among the recipients.

Sam Houston State University has also received this honor in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.       

United Soccer Coaches annually celebrates the academic achievements of high school and college soccer teams whose student-athletes collectively demonstrate a commitment to excellence in their studies over the course of a full academic year.

College Team Academic Award recipients are active members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program with a composite grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster for the 2018-19 academic year.
