HUNTSVILLE - Chris Cralle will be one of the newest members to be inducted in the Sam Houston State Hall of Honor this fall. Cralle is one of eight men and women who will be inducted on Nov. 9.

 

Cralle was a member of the track and field team from 2007-2011. Three times he was the outdoor champion in the hammer throw in the Southland Conference, after taking runner up as a freshman. He also claimed a Southland title indoor, winning the weight throw as a senior.

 

Cralle was a three-time participant at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the hammer throw, finishing 24thas a sophomore and 15thin his junior campaign. As a senior, Cralle finished 7thin the nation and earned first-team All-American honors.

 

That season he was the NCAA West Preliminary champion in the hammer. He was also twice an NCAA Regional finalist in 2008 and 2009.

 

He holds the school record in the hammer with a throw of 224-feet. He also has the sixth-best throw in the discus with a 180-foot toss his sophomore season.

 

The Hall of Honor Induction Ceremony is presented by the Bearkat Champions Fund in conjunction with the Sam Houston Letterwinner’s Association.
