HUNTSVILLE – Sam Houston pitcher Lindsey McLeod has been named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District VII Softball Team, presented by CoSIDA, the organization announced Thursday afternoon.
The announcement came just prior to McLeod and the Bearkats taking the field vs No. 4 Southeastern Louisiana on the third day of the Southland Conference Tournament.
A native of Austin, Texas, McLeod earned second team all-Southland Conference honors at the conclusion of the regular season. It is the second time she has earned an honor to the CoSIDA team after doing so a year ago.
For the season McLeod posted six double-digit strikeout games in 2018, including tying the single-game school record of 14 strikeouts. She ranked in the top five in the league in innings pitched and ERA, while leading the league In strikeouts. She finished the season with 222 strikeouts, setting a new single-season record at SHSU and leaving her less than 100 shy of setting a new career record for the Bearkats as she enters her senior year in 2019.
The Google Cloud Academic All-District® teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot, with first- and second-team Academic All-America® honorees to be announced in June.
