HUNTSVILLE - Lauren Boone will be one of the newest members to be inducted in the Sam Houston State Hall of Honor this fall. Boone is one of eight men and women who will be inducted on Nov. 9.

 

Boone played for the Bearkats softball team from 2003-06. She was a four-time all-Southland selection, earning first-team honors in 2005, second team in 2004 and third team in 2003 and 2006.

 

In 2005 she was named to the Southland Conference All-Tournament team after helping lead the Kats to the championship game. She was also a 2006 selection to the Southland Conference all-academic team.

 

Boone still stands as the all-time leader in batting average, posting a .366 mark in her four years. She is also tops all-time in runs (134), hits (226), walks (93) and is ninth in career fielding percentage (.980). Her .414 batting average in 2005 is the second-best single-season average.

 

The Hall of Honor Induction Ceremony is presented by the Bearkat Champions Fund in conjunction with the Sam Houston Letterwinner’s Association.
