The Sam Houston State softball team is well represented on the 2019 Easton/National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America Scholar-Athletes list announced this week.

The Bearkats had 12 current and former players receive the honor that goes to student-athletes who had a grade point average of 3.5 or higher for the 2018-19 school year. The total number of scholar-athletes across NCAA Division I, II and III and NAIA, two-year colleges and high school surpassed 8,000 for the first time in NFCA history.

Representing Sam Houston State on the list are Karlee Canada, Alex Diaz, Regan Dunn, Darby Fitzpatrick, Taylar Fuselier, Ashley Goetz, Kyndal Kutac, Megan McDonald, Lindsey McLeod, Karina Sanchez, Tiffany Thompson and Bailey White.

The rankings and honors recognize the academic performance of softball teams across the NFCA’s membership categories. NCAA Division III led the way with 1,928 student-athletes earning a 3.5 grade-point average or higher for 2018-19. NCAA Division I and Division II followed with 1,769 and 1,306 honorees.
