Bearkat men’s golf signee Klein Klotz of Lake Travis High School finished second at the 5A Golf State Championship this week in Austin.  Klotz shot rounds of 70 and 69 on the par-72 Morris Williams Golf Course to finish runner-up, just one stroke behind Belton’s Andrew Paysee.

The highlight of the day came on the third playoff hole when Klotz shot a hole-in-one from 191 yards out to beat Brad Able of the Woodlands and Vincent Whaley of McKinney-Boyd. He ended a stellar high school career with that incredible shot. Klotz was also the class 4A runner-up in 2012.

Klotz has led Lake Travis High School to two 4A State team championships (2011, 2012) and has been earned all-district, all-region and all-state honors.

In 4A Competition, Bearkat signee Kyle Hodges posted rounds of 77-71 to finish tied for 26th behind eventual winner Scottie Scheffler of Highland Park.

Hodges has performed well at the national level with a sixth place finish at the AJGA-Billiard and 16th at AJGA-Harvey Penick.   At the state level, he recorded four top five finishes in Texas Junior Golf Tour events and was third in Traditions Spring Break Invitational.
