DALLAS – The Sam Houston State men’s golf team, led by junior William Holcomb, combined for a team score of 286 on day one of the Trinity Forest Invitational on Sunday at Trinity Forest Golf Club.

Holcomb, who finished the day with a 69 on the card, picked up birdies on hole one, six, seven and 17. After shooting two-under, Holcomb is tied for 13th overall.

Noah Steele followed Holcomb with three birdies and shot an even 71 on the day. Grayson Blunt and Austen Christiansen both finished the day shooting 73 and Camden DeBonis shot 77 in the opening round.

Competing as an individual, Jack Randle picked up one birdie and posted a 74-stroke effort.

The Trinity Forest Invitational picks back up tomorrow at 8 a.m. at Trinity Forest Golf Club.
