LAFAYETTE, La. – The playing conditions at Oakbourne Country Club were far from ideal on Monday, and towards the end of the day the scores were showing on the opening day of the Louisiana Classics.
The Sam Houston men opened the day with a 294 and were in third place after 18 holes. Things were different for the Kats in the final 18 holes of the day. The struggled to a 310 and fell to 12th place in the 15-team event.
Levi Valadez led the way for the Kats with a 2-round score of 149. He’s 5-over par for the tournament and currently sits in 23rd place. Williams Holcomb and Noah Steele were both in the top 10 after the first round, but currently sit in 31st at 6-over par.
As a team, the Kats are 28-shots over par and trail leaders McNeese by 23 shots.
The final round will be Tuesday morning.
