EWA BEACH, HAWAII – Following the first round of play in Hawaii, the men’s golf team stands in 12th place after an opening round 291 on Monday. 


The Bearkats were led by Jack Randle who shot a 2-under 70 and currently sits in a tie for 15th. One shot back is Noah Steele who is in a tie for 25th. Ting-Wei Hsieh is one over after a 73 and is tied for 49th. William Holcomb and Luis Carrera are tied for 94th after shooting opening round 77s. 


The Kats as a team are 3-over and trail Ole Miss by 21 shots. They are currently tied with Army with two rounds remaining for the 20-team field. 


Randle got off to a good start for the Bearkats, carding a birdie on his opening hole. He ended the round with five birdies, including three of his final seven holes. Steele finished with a birdie on his final hole to get him under par. 


The Kats will continue on Tuesday with the final round of the tournament on Wednesday.
