Noah Steele continued his strong start to the season with a top 5 finish at the Trinity Forest Invitational hosted by SMU.
Steele fired a 69 on Tuesday to move up three spots on the leaderboard. He closed the tournament shooting 6-under par for the three-day event in a three-way tie for fourth place. His 69 was the low round of the day for the Bearkats who shot 290 as a team and finished the event tied for 11th.
“Noah Had another Solid week,” said head coach Brandt Kieschnick. “I’m proud of the way he got into contention again this week after he won. He didn’t rest on his win and worked hard to get himself back to have a chance to win again, and that’s what it’s all about.”
Steele carded five birdies for his round on Tuesday and had 14 for the tournament. It is the second top five finish this season for Steele, after winning the Sam Hall Intercollegiate to open the year.
William Holcomb finished in a tie for 23rd after shooting a 74 on Tuesday. Ting-Wei Hsieh was 72nd at 9-0over for the tournament while Jack Randle was a shot back on 76th place. Luis Carrera finished in 88th at 16-over.
The Kats will be back in action next week, when they head to the Prairie Club Invitational in Valentine, Neb.
